Created in November 2012, Azalée develops medical devices based on a patented technology using ultrasound to measure cortical bone and assess its structural and mechanical parameters.

Field of application/market

A first application is being developed for the assessment of the fragility of cortical bone in the field of osteoporosis. This pathology affects approximately 200 million people worldwide, 40% of women over 50 years (and 20% of men). The struggle against osteoporosis is considered as a major public health issue in developed countries.

Original Laboratory

Laboratoire d’Imagerie Paramétrique (LIP), Université Pierre et Marie Curie, CNRS (UMR 7623)

A first operational prototype has been tested in the laboratory on ex-vivo bones. The next objective is to initiate a first clinical trial on osteoporosis.
