Created in 2011, Thamis manufactures devices for quality control of particles beams used in hadrontherapy.

Hadrontherapy is a cancer treatment method that uses particle beams (protons, carbon ions) to destroy radio-resistant and inoperable cancer cells.


Thamis relies on a patented method for measuring particle flow using a matrix of scintillating plastic fibers connected to a digital camera. Thamis hodoscopes make it possible to measure beam profile and intensity. They have a very good dynamic range, are easy to use and require very little maintenance.

Laboratoire Leprince-Ringuet, Polytechnique/IN2P3/CNRS


A first series of hodoscopes developed by Laboratoire Leprince-Ringuet  is currently installed at the CNAO Italian center for hadrontherapy. Since then, Thamis has been producing a second series of hodoscopes for the Austrian hadrontherapy center, MedAustron, which is under construction.
